River Heights is the neighbourhood people picture when they think of a classic Winnipeg family area. Wide streets, big boulevard trees, solid 1940s and 1950s homes with real basements, and kids biking to school. It runs roughly between the Assiniboine River and Taylor Avenue, split into North, Central and South River Heights.
What makes it work is the balance. You've got Academy Road and Corydon for coffee, groceries and dinner, Grant Park Shopping Centre for errands, and Assiniboine Park a short drive away. It's quiet enough to feel like a neighbourhood, but you're about ten minutes from downtown.
Homes here don't come up as often as you'd think, because once people get in, they tend to stay. When a well-priced house does hit the market, it usually doesn't sit long.
