If you love homes with history, Crescentwood is going to get you. A lot of the houses here were built between 1905 and 1930: big front porches, original woodwork, leaded glass, and the kind of solid construction you just don't see anymore. Many sit on generous lots under a canopy of elms.
The neighbourhood stretches along the Assiniboine River, with Wellington Crescent as its showpiece, and runs south toward Corydon Avenue. That means you can walk to some of the best restaurants and patios in the city, then head home to a quiet street.
Buying an older home does come with homework. Things like knob-and-tube wiring, older foundations and detached garages are common, so having someone in your corner who knows what to look for really matters here.
