Charleswood feels a little more like the country than most Winnipeg neighbourhoods. Lots tend to be larger, there's more space between houses, and a lot of streets are lined with mature oaks and evergreens. Some homes even back onto wooded areas.
It sits in the southwest corner of the city, with Assiniboine Forest along one side and FortWhyte Alive nearby, so getting outside is easy any time of year. Think cross-country skiing in the winter and trail runs in the summer.
Housing is mostly single-family homes from the 1950s through the 1990s, with plenty of bungalows, splits and two-storeys. Many have been updated, and the big yards are a huge draw for families and gardeners.
